Information You Submit
Search terms
A name, place, or other text entered into the search widget is sent to the third-party provider that operates that search service. Honolulu County Busted Mugshots does not store or keep a copy of those search terms on its own server after the request is passed along. The provider's privacy notice and terms apply once the query leaves this service.
Messages and contact details
If you send an email or contact message, the name, address, message, and attachments you provide may be retained so a reply can be made. Those details are not shared outside the operating organization unless disclosure is needed to comply with law, protect rights, or handle a service issue.
Technical Information Collected
Like most public web pages, a server or analytics service may record limited technical data when a page loads:
- Internet Protocol address.
- Browser name and version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages visited and time spent on each.
- Referring page or service, when available.
- Date and time stamps for requests.
Cookies and similar tools
Cookies may help measure how visitors use the pages, keep a preference, or support advertising and search features. Browser controls can block or remove cookies. Some parts of the service may behave differently when cookies are disabled.
How the Information Is Used
- Keep the pages available, secure, and responsive.
- Send a search request to the selected partner service.
- Understand which Honolulu County records topics are useful.
- Find errors, broken links, and technical faults.
- Display advertising that may be relevant to a visitor's interests.
The service does not change or control records held by the Honolulu Police Department, Hawaii Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Oahu Community Correctional Center, Hawaii Department of Law Enforcement, or the Hawaii Judiciary.
Government and Outside Links
The pages link to HPD arrest logs and policies, DCR SAVIN and OCCC information, the DLE Sheriff Division, BOP and ICE locators, Hawaii Judiciary portals, OIP guidance, and third-party search or news services. Clicking an external link transfers the visitor to another operator. That operator's privacy policy, security practices, cookies, and terms govern the next visit.
Some advertising partners may measure activity across multiple websites for interest-based advertising. That tracking occurs on their systems, not under the control of Honolulu County Busted Mugshots. The Contacts page identifies record custodians, but it is not a government form.
Who May Receive Information
Personal information is not sold as a stand-alone mailing list. It may be available to the following categories when needed to provide the service or comply with law:
- Search partners that process a submitted query.
- Analytics providers that measure page use.
- Advertising networks and their service vendors.
- Law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order or legal obligation.
Submitting a query to a partner is different from visiting an official HPD, DCR, DLE, court, BOP, or ICE source directly.
Security Limits
Reasonable administrative and technical practices are used to protect information handled by the service. No internet-connected system is completely secure, and no promise can be made that a transmission, storage system, or partner service will never suffer a security incident. Do not send sensitive personal documents unless the receiving office's official instructions call for them.
Visitors Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent information, a parent or guardian may use the Contacts route to request its deletion, subject to a reasonable identity check and any legal recordkeeping duty.
Choices About Personal Data
- Ask what personal information is held about you.
- Request correction of an error in information supplied to the operator.
- Ask for deletion where no legal or operational reason requires retention.
- Opt out of certain optional processing, cookies, or interest-based advertising through the available browser or partner controls.
A request about an HPD arrest record, DCR custody entry, court document, or booking photograph must go to that record custodian. This privacy notice controls the private reference service, not the government source.
Changes to This Notice
Privacy practices may change as the search widget, analytics, advertising, or contact process changes. A revised notice will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after an update means the revised wording applies to later activity.
