Honolulu County Busted Mugshots is a private reference service, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, state that someone has been released, post bond, arrange a visit, or pull an official booking record. The agency that created or currently holds the record must answer those questions.
Who Holds the Honolulu Record?
Choose the office by record type. The Honolulu Police Department handles local adult arrest entries and directs booking-photo requests to Records and Identification. The Hawaii Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation handles state-jail and state-prison custody. Oahu Community Correctional Center is a DCR facility, not a county sheriff roster. The Hawaii Department of Law Enforcement, Sheriff Division is statewide and serves court, process, transport, and facility functions. The Hawaii Judiciary holds later case information.

Where to Send a Records Question
These routes keep a request with the agency that can legally review it:
- For a recent adult arrest, start with the HPD Arrest Logs index. For an older date, submit a written request to HPD R&I with the date range and report details.
- For a booking photograph, use HPD's HPD-434 photo policy. Identity verification and case-status review apply, and no flat photo fee or guaranteed turnaround is published.
- For current state custody or alerts, use Hawaii SAVIN/VINELink. It is status-only and does not cover every local hold or provide a photo.
- For a case after booking, use eCourt Kōkua and JIMS. A missing PDF icon means a document is not online, not that a case never existed.
- For a state-law UIPA question, use the OIP request guidance. OIP explains the process but is not the HPD photo custodian.
- For federal custody, use the BOP locator. For immigration custody, use the ICE locator and its exact identifying fields.
- For historical state records, ask the Hawaii State Archives whether a selected record series was transferred. No routine live Honolulu booking-photo collection was identified.
What to Include in a Request
A focused request is easier for a custodian to review. Include the requester's name and contact information, the person's full name, arrest or custody date, agency, report or case number if known, a short description of the record, and the preferred delivery method. HPD may ask for government identification, proof of involvement, or signed authorization. DCR may review a request for security and confidentiality limits.
HPD's posted document fees are $0.50 for the first page and $0.25 for each additional page, $1 for the first verification page and $0.25 for each additional page, and $0.65 for color copies. Photographs and enlargements use the prevailing commercial rate. Ask for a current estimate before chargeable work.
For a person who believes a nonconviction record may qualify, the Hawaii Courts expungement and sealing information identifies the current state process and Attorney General contact. A dismissal, release, or search-engine change is not automatically an expungement.
Questions About This Service
Questions about these reference pages may be directed through the contact method provided by the operator. Questions about custody, release, an official arrest record, a booking photo, a court case, or a warrant must go to HPD, DCR, DLE, the Judiciary, BOP, ICE, or the appropriate issuing office. A private reference page cannot override the custodian's policy.
